LOTUS領隊Eric Boullier表示，參與F1的成本必須要降下來，這樣才能夠維持目前的參賽車隊數。Eric Boullier相信有80％的車隊願意討論削減開支，但是有一小部分的車隊不願意這麼做，這就意味著包括LOTUS在內的一些中小型車隊面臨著財政困難。
