紐約洋基隊與坦帕灣光芒隊3連戰系列賽最後一場，洋基隊找來「酷斯拉」松井秀喜開球並幫他舉行光榮退休儀式，果然帶來好運，最後靠著老將Alfonso Soriano敲出再見安打助威下，以6:5險勝，避免被橫掃的命運。
對洋基迷來說，沒有什麼是比球隊止敗、隊長Jeter復出開轟、Soriano回到老東家懷抱敲出再見安打，加上松井引退這樣更棒的事了。
不過很少人知道，其實Soriano會說一些日文，並且在日本職棒廣島隊打過球，所以這也算是跟松井有某些程度上的關連，當然，他們過去也是隊友。
首局洋基隊就靠著Derek Jeter開轟，Vernon Wells高飛犧牲打，以及日籍野手鈴木一朗適時安打建功，一口氣拿下3分領先。
不過光芒隊在2、3兩局也展開反攻，先是由前場球致勝功臣Kelly Johnson敲出二壘安打首開記錄。
Wil Myers在3局上也打出3分打點紅不讓一舉超前比數為4:3，洋基反倒落後。
