台中市長胡志強23日表示，自己目前尚未決定是否投入中市選戰，但若自己選擇連任，未來一定會參加黨內初選，接受檢驗。〔圖／資料照〕

台中市長胡志強23日表示，自己目前尚未決定是否投入中市選戰，但若自己選擇連任，未來一定會參加黨內初選，接受檢驗。至於民進黨人選部分，他表示這是對方內部的事務，自己不願評論。
2014年將舉行七合一選舉，近來有消息指出，國民黨有意讓胡志強繼續連任，對此胡志強表示，並未收到這樣訊息，但他認為，黨中央現在最需要的就是保持中立，要支持哪一個候選人，應等初選結果出爐、決定國民黨參選人後才可以透露。
他認為，明年國民黨要由誰參選，相信黨內會先經過民調來決定，如果民調結果離初選很近，可能會直接協調出最後人選，當然他也會全力支持代表國民黨的候選人。同時他也推測，國民黨可能在12月進行民調，1月進行協調，然後視協調結果決定是否舉行初選。
另外有消息指出，胡志強為了準備選戰，近期勤跑基層鋪路，對此他回應，自己12年來都在跑鐵人行程，就算明天不當市長了，還是會努力到最後一秒鐘。
至於民進黨部分，胡志強表示這並非他能決定的事情，至少本人要有所表態，否則別人家娶媳婦，怎能由他來表示意見。
目前民進黨已有立委林佳龍、蔡其昌公開表態，不過上屆選舉以3萬票惜敗的前農委會主委蘇嘉全，卻傳出可能不選的消息，不過本人仍未證實。
