日本防相小野寺五典對日航空自衛隊三澤基地進行了視察，並表示將要加快引進新型預警機，進一步強化在『日本領空』針對中俄飛機的『警戒監視』。
根據環球網報導，據日本《讀賣新聞》9月5日報導，小野4日在對青森縣空自三澤基地進行視察後表示， 計劃將目前部署在該基地的13架E-2C空中預警機中的數架飛機轉移至衝繩縣空自那霸基地。
報導稱，自2012年12月大陸海監飛機進入釣魚台空域進行巡航以來，日自衛隊方面就開始著手加強對他國飛機的警戒監視力度。
對此，小野寺當天在記者會上稱，『增強警戒監視裝備以應對他國軍機入侵我國領空非常必要』，表示將加快引進新的預警機。
另據日本共同社透露，針對有媒體報導稱北韓正在新建導彈發射架的消息，小野寺強調：『將努力充實(導彈防衛)裝備。』
