媒體報導，台灣核災賠償金額遠低於其他國家。原能會發新聞稿表示，在去年初送立法院審查的《核子損害賠償法》修訂草案，已參考國際公約的標準，將核子設施經營者的損害賠償責任限額提高至150億元，若通過後可大幅調升損害賠償金額。
原能會指出，國際間的核子損害賠償金額，無論是《巴黎公約》或是《維也納公約》，均在1997起年相繼調高其賠償上限為3億特別提款權(SDR)，約等於新臺幣150億元。
原能會表示，為與國際接軌，《核子損害賠償法》修訂草案已將核子設施經營者的損害賠償責任限額，由現行42億元提高至150億元，以利於未來加入國際公約，透過簽約國彼此的互相支援合作，對於事故後可能衍生的國際求償也可以有一致的作法。
原能會強調，《核子損害賠償法》修訂草案在去年初，已送立法院審議，主要修訂方向為，包括提高核設施經營者的損害賠償最高限額；「因天然災害導致」的核災納入損害賠償的範圍，以及延長損害賠償請求權時效至30年。
