美股上周五收紅，台股上周六全球獨家開市，成交量急縮，但是16日則是急攻向上，早盤以8189.61點開出，上漲47.13點，指數由權值股帶動向上衝，一路突破8200點關卡，早盤一度衝達8252.1點，盤中維持高檔，指數大漲逾百點，漲幅逾1.2%。
美股上周五收紅，本周美國聯邦準備理事會（Fed）將召開利率會議，討論量化寬鬆（QE）退場時程，國內部分，9月政爭，總統馬英九與立法院長王金平的政治鬥爭，本周將有另一場激戰，政台的不確定性，也形成一股隱形壓力。
不過，台股16日早盤不畏政爭壓力，早盤指數開高，權值股、高價股領攻，股王大立光開高走高，離漲停千元價位僅1元差距，盤中大漲6.84%，台積電攻達105元，漲幅2.44%，鴻海、聯發科也是上漲的攻勢。
盤面上各類股幾乎齊揚，僅觀光股呈現跌勢，塑膠股漲幅逾2%，表現相對強勢，主要由台塑四寶領軍上攻，南亞、台化盤中大漲逾2%，台塑、台塑化也是上漲。
