國民黨立委蔡正元今天宣布投入台北市長選舉，讓已經相當熱鬧的北市首長之爭，更添戰火。蔡正元表示，他投入台北市長選舉，希望實現想為台北市民做的事。至於國民黨內角逐者眾，他尊重黨內初選機制，將全力以赴爭取支持，也歡迎如連勝文之類的挑戰者，一起共同競爭。
